Save Lucy is a passionate documentary about the plight of one isolated elephant. Since ancient times, humans have exploited "charismatic megafauna" like elephants, keeping them as performers, curiosities and playthings. But if the health of captive animals is worth anything, it seems clear that the current status quo is unethical and unsustainable. The documentary will hold to scrutiny the stakeholders on all sides of the Lucy debate: the zoos, the organizations overseeing them, and the animal-rights activists.
