Overview
The world is a lousy place when the sun is always shining, but stepping out into daylight it is a surefire way to get cancer. When clean drinking water comes at a price only high ballers can afford. When the power grid is so on the brink, that people are forced to chase it around the city and shack up together in dingy apartments like tinned sardines. When human health has been kicked so far to the curb, that suicide has no stigma and vampires, the lowest members of the social order, avoid human blood like the plague. So when de-fanged corpses start turning up, nobody cares-except for a cop named Baker. Following some macabre leads gets Baker's partner killed. As he digs deeper into the underbelly of the city, Baker's own personal code is eroded away by the greed and violence that surrounds and begins to consume him. What he discovers is a conspiracy that runs upward to the city's elite. One which could make someone very rich, or at least let him walk in the sunshine, without turning malignant.
